برطانیہ کے آفس فار نیشنل اسٹیٹکس کی تحقیق میں بتایا گیا کہ برطانیہ میں دریافت ہونے والی نئی قسم سے متاثر افراد میں کھانسی، تھکاوٹ، گلے میں سوجن اور مسلز کی تکلیف زیادہ عام علامات ہوتی ہیں۔اس تحقیق میں یہ نتیجہ برطانیہ میں کووڈ 19 کی نئی اور پرانی اقسام سے متاثر 6 ہزار افراد کے ڈیٹا کے تجزیے کے بعد نکالا گیا۔
مشاہدات کے مطابق وائرس کی نئی قسم سے متاثر افراد میں سونگھنے اور چکھنے کی حسوں سے محرومی کا امکان کم ہوتا ہے، تاہم پھر بھی یہ وائرس کی 3 بنیادی علامات میں سے ایک ہے۔اس سے پہلے برطانیہ کے محکمہ صحت این ایچ ایس کی ویب سائٹ میں کورونا وائرس کی 3 بنیادی علامات میں زیادہ جسمانی درجہ حرارت، مسلسل کھانسی اور سونگھنے یا چکھنے کی حسوں سے محرومی یا تبدیلی کا ذکر کیا گیا تھا۔اس وائرس سے متاثر ہونے والے بیشتر افراد میں ان میں سے کم از کم ایک علامت سامنے آتی ہے۔
برطانیہ میں یہ نئی قسم ستمبر 2020 میں کینٹ میں دریافت ہوئی تھی، جو ماہرین کے مطابق سابقہ اقسام کے مقابلے میں زیادہ آسانی سے پھیل سکتی ہے اور برطانیہ بھر میں اب بالادست قسم بن چکی ہے۔ایسے چند شواہد بھی سامنے آئے ہیں کہ یہ نئی قسم دیگر اقسام کے مقابلے میں زیادہ جان لیوا بھی ہے، تاہم اس حوالے سے ڈیٹا زیادہ ٹھوس نہیں اور یقین سے کچھ کہنا مشکل ہے۔
کورونا کی نئی قسم سے متاثر ساڑھے 3 ہزار افراد میں سے 35 فیصد نے کھانسی، 32 فیصد نے تھکاوٹ، 25 فیصد نے مسلز میں تکلیف اور 21.8 فیصد نے گلے میں سوجن کو رپورٹ کیا۔اس کے مقابلے میں پرانی قسم سے متاثر ڈھائی ہزار افراد میں 28 فیصد نے کھانسی، 29 فیصد نے تھکاوٹ، 21 فیصد نے مسلز میں تکلیف اور 19 فیصد نے گلے میں سوجن کو رپورٹ کیا۔تحقیق میں دریافت کیا گیا کہ نئی قسم سے متاثر 16 فیصد افراد کو سونگھنے کی حس جبکہ 15 فیصد کو چکھنے کی حس سے محرومی کا سامنا ہوا، جو پرانی قسم کے مریضوں میں 18 فیصد تھی۔دونوں گروپس میں سردرد، سانس لینے میں مشکلات، ہیضہ یا الٹیوں کی شرح میں کوئی فرق نظر نہیں آیا۔
پروفیسر لارنس ینگ نے بتایا کہ وائرس کی نئی قسم میں ووہان میں سامنے آنے والی قسم کے مقابلے میں 23 تبدیلیاں ہوئی ہیں۔انہوں نے بتایا کہ ان میں سے کچھ تبدیلیاں وائرس کے ان حصوں میں ہوئی جو جسم کے مدافعتی ردعمل پر اثرانداز ہونے والے حصے ہیں اور بیماری سے متعلق متعدد علامات پر بھی اثرانداز ہوتے ہیں۔
